What To Do When You Take A Day Off From Skiing

Blue waters and glacier capped mountains at Joffre Lakes in Whistler BC

Whistler is famous for its great selection of year-round activities. This time of year the sunshine has cleared the valley paths which means you can ski in the morning and go biking in the afternoon! But what fun things can you do with your day when you don’t want to ski?

Bike the Valley Trail

Whistler’s valley trail is a vast network of well-maintained trails that go as far North as Green Lake and as far South as Cheakamus. Rent a cruiser bike and enjoy a leisurely cycle. The trails go past Whistler’s lakes which are just starting to melt, so don’t forget your camera.

Waterfall Tours

If you love a waterfall, why not explore all the best falls in Whistler? Be wowed by Brandywine Falls, a remarkable demonstration of mother nature at her finest, located to the South of Whistler. On a clear day, you can get an uncompromised view of Black Tusk, with Daisy Lake in the valley. Alexander Falls is also an impressive sight, located in the Callaghan Valley. You can see it right from the car park!

Train Wreck

A short hike starting at Function Junction, follow the trail down to the train wreck. Walk by Cheakamus River, in the woods, until you reach a clearing with the colourful train carriages. Also featuring the suspension bridge, you can take in the breathtaking views of Cheakamus River, with the surrounding mountains. Perfect for all ages on a sunny day!

Pemberton

30 minutes North of Whistler lies this hidden mountain gem. The quaint town gives you a taste of real mountain life. Visit the farm animals at North Arm Farm, grab lunch at Mile One Eating House and grab a drink at Pemberton Brewing Co. If you’re feeling more adventurous, take a drive to Joffre Lakes. For those not so athletic, you can see the first lake by walking 5 minutes from your car. If you’re planning on doing the full hike, snowshoes or crampons are recommended.

Float Plane Tour

Seeing Whistler from the top of a mountain is one thing, but from the air is an experience you won’t forget. Soar above the clouds and see a glacier close up with Harbour Air Sea Planes Glacier tour. Spring is the perfect time to take a trip around the mountains. The change in seasons means you get to experience the perfect combination of summer and winter.
