Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Starting Wage: $25/hour

Terms: Full-time (40hrs per week)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician ensures that all assigned day-to-day maintenance is carried out in a safe and professional manner, is alert to Owner and Guest needs and helps make their stay the best possible experience. This role also ensures all work areas, vehicles and workshops are kept clean, safe and organized.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects.
• Responds to all unit safety concerns.
• Supports departmental maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists.
• Assist management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations.
• Makes sure that all equipment and tools are maintained in a clean and workable condition.
• Deals with guest related concerns.
• Maintain the units in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and tiling to ensure attractive and well-maintained units.
• Must possess knowledge of basic hand/power tool operation.
• Clean and maintain pool and spa areas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous construction or resort maintenance.
• Valid driving license.
• At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
• Should have basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry concepts.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and vendors.
• Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 50 lbs and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.

Position Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Manager assists in all aspects of the daily running of the maintenance department. They are involved in the recruiting, training and managing of staff, scheduling, producing task lists and reporting. They ensure that regular and preventative maintenance of all units operated by Whiski Jack Resorts runs as smoothly and safely as possible. In partnership with the Maintenance Manager, this role establishes safety programs and helps make Owner and Guest stays the best possible experience.

Areas of Responsibility

• Involved in the recruiting and interviewing of Maintenance Technicians.
• Supervise maintenance staff including work schedules and timesheets: skills and standards training; ensure safety standards and requirements are met.
• Set example for co-workers of the work ethic expected.

• Serve as liaison for any subcontractors pertaining to unit maintenance.

• Maintain open and good communication with other departments.

• Be aware of arrival and departure information and sheets.
• Understand individual unit physical conditions.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and HR Manager with staff evaluations, discipline and terminating procedures.
• Train employees in job duties and safety mannerisms.
• Perform technical skills in area of expertise as required.
• Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, detailed reports on failures, causes and recommended remedial action.
• Make sure that all equipment and tools are maintained in a clean and workable condition.
• Schedule contractors and order materials required for maintenance repairs
• Review department schedules for productivity and inspect work for completion.
• Coordinate work order systems and maintain calendar checklists.
• Produce weekly and monthly reports.
• Ensure that invoices are reviewed and paid in a timely manner.
• Other duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
