Want to know how to save money on a Whistler ski vacation? Read on for our top tips and tricks to make the most of your vacation without breaking the bank!
1. Cook and Save
One of the easiest ways to rack up a large bill on vacation is to continually go out to eat. While it might be convenient and tempting to do, a little pre-planning can make a world of difference to your total vacation cost. Every unit we manage has a full kitchen with everything from cookware to bakeware, even a blender! This makes it easy and fun to cook with your loved one or family at the end of an exhilarating day on the ski hill. Here are some great options for your Whistler accommodation:
2. Fill the Fridge
If you’re staying in one of our incredible accommodations with a full kitchen, make life easy and fill the fridge via delivery or in Squamish on your way to Whistler. If you prefer food delivery to avoid the crowds, you can easily shop online with our local grocery, Nesters Market. Just simply arrange access to the condo with the team at Whiski Jack, and your fridge will be full upon arrival! If you’d prefer to do your own shopping and are arriving by car, make a stop at any of the groceries in Squamish to stock up. Squamish grocery prices are less expensive than Whistler, so this is a great way to save money on your Whistler vacation!
3. Ditch the Car
If you are travelling by air to get to Whistler, one of the easiest ways to save money is to secure transport from the airport and ditch the rental car. If you do need to rent a car, ensure the rental has snow tires to comply with local highway regulations. However, once you arrive in Whistler, the need for a car is minimal, if necessary at all. Whistler ski rental companies even offer delivery for the same price as going to a rental shop! With our accommodations so close to the lifts, bus services, and Whistle (Whistler’s version of Uber!), you’ll enjoy being car and stress-free on vacation. Here are a few options for airport transfer providers:
4. Alcohol Delivery & Drink at “Home”
While Whistler boasts of a world-famous après scene, a simple way to save money is to have cocktails & wine at your cozy accommodation. Whether you’re staying in Creekside or Whistler Village, there are plenty of options for wine and liquor stores. You can even have your preferred libations delivered to your unit from Nesters Liquor Store.
5. Discounts with Whiski Jack Resorts
Upon check-in with Whiski Jack, you’ll receive access to discounts on some local activities, including ski rentals and delivery with Black Tie, 10% off Scandinave Spa, and discounts with Canadian Adventures and Ziptrek. Make sure you use the discount cards that are included in your access code email within a day or so of your arrival!
6. Ski with a Backpack
One of the best tips for saving money while you’re skiing or snowboarding in Whistler is to ski with a small backpack. Stock it up with any of the delicious snacks and food you stocked your fridge with, and save a substantial amount of money while you’re on the hill! While we love the experience of eating a warm meal in the Roundhouse or Rendevous Lodge, sharing a snack with a loved one slopeside or on the chairlift is just as memorable.
7. Bring Your Own Skis
If you want to save a bundle of money right off the bat, one of the easiest ways to do so is to bring your own ski and snowboard equipment. While there are some exceptional local rental shops, if you’ve already paid money for your gear, you might as well use it! This is particularly easy if you’re arriving by car. If flying, take advantage of the above-mentioned discount on Black Tie Ski & Board Rentals!
