The Ultimate Guide to Whistler Village

Staying in the heart of Whistler Village is the ultimate way to experience our beautiful mountain town and all its adventures and amenities. Choosing an accommodation in the centre of the busy village is ideal for those who love being part of Whistler’s bustling nightlife and activity on the Village Stroll! World-class dining, shopping, bars, restaurants and clubs are right at your doorstep. With so much to do, we’ve come up with the ultimate guide to help you make the most of your vacation in Whistler!

Where to Stay

With so many accommodation options in Whistler, we’ve come up with our top two favourite places to stay in the heart of the village. If you want to enjoy the world-class nightlife, shopping, restaurants and have easy access to the Whistler Village Gondolas, the Village Gate House is an ideal location! These condos are ideal for couples or small families/groups who want all the amenities of home while staying in the centre of Whistler’s world-class resort. Choose from studio, one or two-bedroom plus loft, all of which boast full kitchens. Enjoy the newly renovated bathrooms with soaker tubs and steam rooms in the one-bedroom + loft units. Many of the one and two-bedroom units have private balconies and hot tubs, perfect for relaxing at the end of a busy day and watching over the bustling village stroll. You can view Village Gate House properties here, but make sure to contact us to find out which units have hot tubs.

Our other favourite is Town Plaza, putting you front and center of everything Whistler encompasses. Town Plaza has three separate buildings to choose from, and all share the indoor hot tub and fitness centre located in Deer Lodge. Choose from our one or two-bedroom suites with full kitchens and in-suite laundry. The ultimate in-home comforts for families, couples, or a small group of friends!

Walk Everywhere

One of the highlights of staying in the heart of the Village is the easy access to all the shops, restaurants, grocery & liquor stores, and all the adventures awaiting in the mountains. Whistler is proudly a pedestrian-friendly village, with a beautifully designed stroll winding throughout. When staying at either of our preferred locations, you’re only within minutes of the gondolas for downhill mountain biking or summer sightseeing. Bringing little ones with you? Make sure to stop by the playground and park at Olympic Plaza, the kids will love it! If you do want to venture out of the village, there are plenty of transport options available so you can leave the car parked! Learn more about the free shuttle services here.

Shopping

If you’re keen to do some shopping on your vacation, Whistler does not disappoint! Our world-class resort is filled with options that delight the outdoor enthusiast as well as the fashionista. Choose from local luxury shopping options like Open Country or 3 Singing Birds, located in the Fairmont, or Canadian staples like Aritzia. There’s plenty of art galleries throughout the village, offering locally curated fine art for you to take a piece of Whistler home with you. If you’re looking to stock your outdoor gear arsenal, Whistler is an absolute dream! Some of our favourite local companies are Escape Route Whistler, Arbutus Routes, and Fanatyk Co Ski & Cycle.

Adventure

Adventure awaits in Whistler, and the access to it has never been easier than when staying in the heart of Whistler Village. When staying at either of our premier accommodations in the village, you’re within a minute’s walk of the Whistler Village Gondola for sightseeing and Fitzsimmons Chair for Downhill Mountain Biking. If you prefer something with a bit less elevation, take a stroll along the Valley Trail to Lost Lake Park. Here, you can enjoy the low elevation hiking trails and pristine lake located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. We also highly recommend trying out Ziptrek Eco Tours, located at the base of Whistler Mountain, to experience the unique perspective of flying high over the river and valley in between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains! For more information on our favourite summer activities, check out our blog here.

Dining

After a big day of play, you’ll love all the options at your doorstep for apres, dining and patios! Whistler’s culinary and world-famous apres scene is not to be missed on your vacation and is right on your doorstep when staying in the heart of Whistler Village. One of our favourite local establishments in the heart of the village is Gone Eatery. This is a great spot for breakfast or lunch to help you fuel up for your day. If you’re looking for apres, patios, and dinner options, you can learn more here. With the temporarily reduced hours at some of the local eateries and pubs, we recommend calling ahead to make reservations or confirm their current hours.
