Ultimate Creekside Vacation

Whistler Creekside is just a few kilometres south of Whistler’s Main Village, and it’s the best location for those wanting a more low-key vibe for their vacation. The smaller Creekside community has a nice, relaxed cadence to it and offers all the amenities you could want on your Whistler vacation. We’ve put together an ideal itinerary for those wanting to base their holiday out of Creekside.

A lot has happened since we first posted this blog. Most importantly, the Creekside Gondola was updated in 2022 (as well as the Big Red Chair). This means that the Bike Park trails have also been given an update, offering MORE blue trails, and more biking in Creekside!

On top of that, Creekside Village has a few new additions: Mekong Thai opened this August, much to the delight of all foodies. A gorgeous space, and incredible food. You simply must try it! Rockit Coffee offers a funky space, delicious coffee, and amazing food. Bred has been around for a few years now, but still sports a line-up on a Saturday morning for fans to get their hands on a loaf of the best sourdough you may ever try.

Beyond dining, Genevieve and the team at Mountain Chic Hair Lounge will certainly have you looking fantastic in no time at all. Andrea Mueller has been operating a pop-up art shop and studio at Creekside Village. Check out her website for events and more. 122 West has moved their location to a larger space, offering MORE decor, furniture, inspiration and gifts!

Where to Stay

We love Lake Placid Lodge for its amenities and central location in Creekside Village, making it the prime base camp for your next Whistler vacation. The condos we manage at Lake Placid Lodge have freshly renovated rooms, decor and furniture, providing a modern vibe in a cozy mountain town. The outdoor heated pool, hot tub, garden, dry sauna and shared BBQ provide the ultimate space for relaxing at the end of the day. In addition to the exquisite accommodation, you’ll be within walking distance to everything you could need while on vacation: grocery, adventure, dining, bars, and nature.  

Biking

Summer and biking are synonymous in Whistler. The pristine trails attract people from all over the world who want to experience top-level trail building on rugged Whistler terrain. Staying in Creekside is perfect for those wanting to make biking a staple of their Whistler vacation. The Creekside Gondola is open for bikers to access the Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s 100 downhill trails, and it also happens to be quieter than accessing the mountain from the main village. Less time in lineups means more time for riding! If you don’t want to travel with your bike, we highly recommend Coastal Culture in Creekside for rentals. Their convenient location is just steps away from Lake Placid Lodge and the Creekside Gondola. 

Nature

If you want some downtime to take in the beautiful water features of Whistler, Alpha Lake in Creekside is a stunning option. As with most activities in Creekside, Alpha Lake is generally quieter than the other parks in Whistler, offering up a peaceful alternative to some of the busier locations. We highly recommend having a waterside picnic, picking up takeaway food from Samurai Bowl on your walk to the park. Alpha Lake also happens to be conveniently located next to the Valley Trail, so you can take a stroll through old-growth forests after lunch and stretch your legs. 

Dining 

Creekside is known for some of the best locally-owned restaurants and establishments. For fine dining check out the Red Door Bistro, known by its tagline “French at Heart. West Coast Soul.” They offer a delicious west coast twist on traditional French cuisine and continually make the best of lists for fine dining. If you want something a little more low-key, Southside Diner is a true Whistler local’s establishment. Offering hearty dinners, brunch, and breakfast, you’ll leave satisfied and fueled up for a big day of adventure. For a more casual but delicious dinner, enjoy Creekbread pizza (yes another local favourite). 

Shopping

Whistler Creekside has plenty of shopping to keep you entertained and stocked up for your local adventures. If you need bike gear, we recommend heading back to Coastal Culture for their wide range of bike accessories and clothing. If the finer things of life suit your taste, check out 122 West for home furnishings and gifts. Creekside also conveniently has a grocery store, two wine & liquor stores, coffee shops and a bakery. Creekside Whistler truly is a park and play location!
