Whistler is excited to be hosting the 27th Annual Pride and Ski Festival. A celebration of diversity, there are lots of fun, exciting events to be enjoyed by everyone – gay or
straight. From January 21st – 28th, Whistler will be full of rainbow colours, dancing shoes, music and of course skiing! Said to be one of the largest and friendliest pride events in North America, here are the top events not to be missed.
Daily – 9.45am
Can you find a better way of combining true Canadian hospitality and skiing? Free mountain tours are available on alternate days on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. You can get the chance to connect with like-minded people and be guided around the best spots on the mountains. Whistler tours run Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.45am from the top of Whistler Mountain, by the Roundhouse. Blackcomb tours are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from the top of Jersey Cream and Glacier chairs – also at 9.45am.
Friday 29th January – 3.30pm- 5.30pm
Whistler doesn’t like to do things by half measures and that includes a Pride Parade. Starting at mid-station on Whistler Mountain, skiers descend on Whistler Village in a sea of larger than life pride flags, colourful outfits and costumes. Anyone is welcome to join in the parade. You can also get free entry to the T-Party in the Conference Centre until 6 pm if you want to carry on dancing.
Wednesday 23rd January – 8 pm
Prepare for an evening of entertainment with international celebrity Air Hostess, Pam Ann (aka comedian Caroline Reid) as she launches her brand new show! With an opening set from Ryan Steele (The Ryan and Amy show) to warm you up, you’re bound to be smiling all night. Don’t want to end the night there? The official after party at CABN in the Aava Hotel follows immediately after and you can even get the chance to meet Pam yourself! Buy tickets for the comedy show and after party here.
Thursday 24th January – 10 pm- 1.30am
Bring your swimsuit and dive into this fun-filled event, held at Meadow Park Sports Centre. With music from Brazilian Sensation Rafael Calvente, this is definitely a festival highlight. Hop on a free shuttle bus leaving every 30 minutes from the Aava hotel from 9.30pm. Buy pool party tickets here.
Saturday 26th – 10pm- 4am
The grand finale, Snowball is an event not to be missed. Just when you think this festival couldn’t get any better, Galactic Entertainment collaborated with Whistler Pride to create a one of a kind experience in the Conference Centre. Keep dancing until 4 am with music from Grammy-nominated DJ/ Producer Abel Aguilera and an opening set from DJ Landon James. Tickets are available here.
